Glutathione is a molecule that is found naturally n the body and plays a nuber of important roles in maintaining good health. It is made up of three amino acids: glycine, cysteine, and glutamate.
One of ther primary functions of glutathione is to act as an antioxidant. Antioxidants help neutralize harmful molecules called free radicals that can damage cells and contribute to the development of diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Glutathione helps protect cells from damage by neutralizing free radicals and by supporting the function of other antioxidants in the body.
In addition to its antioxidant activity, glutathione also plays a role in supporting the immune system, detoxifying the body, and maintaining the integrity of proteins. It is found in high concentrations in the liver, where it helps to detoxify the body by breaking down harmful substances such as drugs and toxins.
Glutathione is produced naturally in the body, but it can also be obtained through diet by consuming foods that are rich in the amino acids that make up glutathione, such as garlic, onions, and cruciferous vegetables.
In our practice we give glutathione as an intramuscular injection or as an add on IV push.
